Summer 2018 Schedule:
  • July: Quinta Mazatlan’s Saturday Discovery Day program in July honors one of the most important nature icons in South Texas: the Prickly Pear! Every July Saturday, from 11-Noon, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities: from tasting the nopalitos and prickly pear jam and juice, to watching a show about all the animals that live in the prickly pear “cactus hotel”, to creating a souvenir prickly pear craft. Or come out to have some fun in the “Prickly People Patch”! Each week families will be challenged to add their own creative pads to the growing “prickly people patch” sculpture. Young children will enjoy adding animals to the scene, while older youth and adults can learn to make paper prickly pear flowers to add on.

  • August: REPTILE ROUND-UP! – Critters and crawlers are coming out to play at Quinta Mazatlan! The fun starts with a short presentation on the native reptiles and amphibians that can be found crawling around our neighborhoods or hiding in some of the more wild places of the LRGV. Make a slithery craft, then visit with our live pet snakes and Texas Tortoise. Every Saturday in August from 11 am- Noon. $3 fee (includes park admission). All ages welcome.
